Kitchen progress II

After having Regan for so many years, it is hard to believe that a dog could not just gulp down all her food at every meal, But Te Beagh is quite different, at least in this first week. She is much less interested in her food, and will eat a few bites, walk away, come back for another piece of kibble, sit down, etc. Then eagle eye Regan will seize any chance to finish off all of Te Beagh's food if we aren't watching! Part of it may be the first week and change of environment, and nerves. But I read online that some dogs are really that way - nibblers they call them. I guess Regan would be in a class called gulpers, or swallow-but-don't chew!
Te Beagh is doing really well. She stayed in her crate all night last night, and when she woke up we took her out and she peeped and pooped outside! So far so good on that count. Mom took her to the vet today and she is healthy and all is well except for a little cough. But no real problems, the vet said to give her a bit of Robitussin. She is a real sweetie, very nice temperament. She loves going out and romping around. It must feel like a big yard to her! A few more pix for your viewing pleasure:
Today was a busy day. First we got our new Puppy and then we bottled our very first batch of amber ale. Of course, we tasted a bit as we bottled it, and it seems to be quite good. A little carbonation, bottle conditioning, and voila - it will be ready to drink in a week or two! Much quicker than wine, so that part is great! I couldn't get the pix to download - but trust me - it looks good too!
Marianne and I got a new puppy today - a lab mix. We got back from our Chicago trip last night, and Marianne got online and there is a rescue place in Loveland and they had lab mix puppies. We named her Te Beagh which means Little Lady in Gaelic. Pronounced "Che Vek". Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here are several thousand words:
We are in the process of doing some remodeling in the kitchen. We're getting new countertops and a new sink, and will paint the cabinets and walls a new color. We're also putting in new tile on the wall behind the sink and stove, which meant taking out the old tile, which meant taking out the drywall, which means putting in new drywall, .... Anyway, you get the idea. Here are a few photos - the "before" shots that will make the end product seem even more amazing! But before we started all of this, you will see that I am boiling our FIRST BATCH OF BEER! We are making an amber ale, which will be ready in time for Laurel and Freddie's visit for the marathon. Yipperooney!
I went hiking with John Bartholow the other day and he showed me his new toy - a pedometer. he told me, now that he's retired, he wants to be sure he gets in his 10,000 steps each day. I've always been into keeping track of things, so it seemed like a good idea. So, I ordered a pedometer that you can simply put in your pocket and it keeps tracks of your steps. I like it, and it does motivate me to walk more, or park farther away, etc.
